Student Scientific Club of Biochemists

“Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood”
– Maria Curie-Skłodowska

The Student Scientific Club of Biochemists at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology was founded in 1967. With its popularity among students, it is still active and is the oldest Scientific Club at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. If you are looking for a place that will help you to enhance not only your theoretical knowledge but also practical skills in modern biochemistry, biotechnology, or instrumental analysis, the Club is the best choice!

Main goals and tasks of the Club

  • Exploration and extension of knowledge of biochemistry and biotechnology
  • Stimulation of students’ scientific passion and development of research interests
  • Organisation of workshops on good laboratory practice (from 2019, a series of workshops entitled “Meeting at the LAB”)
  • Participation in research projects conducted by academic staff
  • Popularisation of science through attendance in numerous conferences and scientific seminars
  • Preparation for public speeches
  • Involvement in the organisation of cyclical science-promoting events, e.g. Biologists’ Night, Lublin Science Festival, or UMCS Open Doors
  • Integration of the student community
