Christmas All Around the World 2022 - 19.12.2022

On 19 December 2022, for the fourth time, an integrative Christmas meeting was held for students of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology entitled "Christmas All Around the World".

In the current academic year, over 500 students are studying at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, including 93 foreign students. In the biology and biotechnology courses given in Polish, 60 students from Ukraine and Belarus are studying. In the English-language Medical Biology and Molecular Biology specialities, 33 students from 22 countries on four continents (Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, China, Ghana, India, Ireland, Yemen, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Congo, Kosovo, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, United States of America, Tanzania, Ukraine, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates) are currently studying.

During the Christmas meeting, the students presented traditions and customs connected with  the celebration of Christmas and New Year in various countries: Ayana – in Kazakhstan, Jimmy – in Kenya, and Cletus – in Nigeria. The meeting was highlighted by musical performances by Glafira and Nastassia Kruk from Belarus, Maria Yaroshenko from Ukraine, Sophia Maximenko from Ukraine, Emmanuel Anagwu from Nigeria and Agata Dzyr from Poland. Everyone also enjoyed the taste of traditional Christmas dishes from different countries prepared with their own hands by students and other participants of the meeting. The beautiful decoration of the table was prepared by Karolina Tymoszuk and Karolina Jaros – PhD students with the help of students.

We were pleased to host the management of the Institute of Biological Sciences: Prof. Anna Jarosz-Wilkołazka and Prof. Małgorzata Cytryńska, the teaching staff, including Prof. Magdalena Staszczak and Prof. Kazimierz Trębacz, and the staff of the Faculty Dean's Office. The staff of the English-language Recruitment Team and Welcome Center – Monika Piątek, MA, and Robert Ainebyona, MA – graced our meeting with their presence.

The meeting was organized by the Student Government of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology and foreign students of Medical Biology and Molecular Biology with the support of the Faculty authorities, Prof. Joanna Czarnecka – the Dean of the Faculty and Prof. Małgorzata Wójcik – Vice-Dean for Student Affairs.
