Deposit/booking fee and confirming the assigned place

In the 2022/2023 academic year, the deposit/booking fee is a one-time payment and amounts to PLN 400.

The deposit/booking fee shall be used for:

  • securing the reservation of a place in the residence hall,
  • covering eventual losses caused by a student/doctoral student in the facility.

The deposit/booking fee shall be transferred to the student’s/doctoral student’s account and retained there. The account number for the payment can be found in the USOSweb -> COMMON SECTION -> Payments -> bank accounts of the university.

The failure to pay the fee by the designated date (the payment date is considered to be the date on which the University’s account is credited) results in cancelling the reservation of the place in the UMCS dormitory in the
2022/2023 academic year, even if it was confirmed via telephone or email.

The deposit/booking fee shall be fully refunded to a student/doctoral student after he/she checks out from the UMCS Resident Hall if the room, the furniture and equipment in the room, or the common spaces were not damaged by the fault of the student/doctoral student. The deposit/booking fee is refunded within 14 days from the date when student/doctoral student checked out from the dormitory.

The deposit/booking fee is not refundable if a student/doctoral student:

  • does not inform the manager of the dormitory about resigning from the admitted place in the 2022/2023 academic year by sending an email at the email address of the dormitory (email addressed available on the website: https://www.umcs.pl/en/umcs-dormitories,15042.htm);
  • does not accommodate in the dormitory within 7 days from the beginning of the academic year, according to the 2022/2023 academic year calendar;
  • has been expelled from the dormitory for flagrant violation of the Regulations of social benefits for UMCS students in regard to the guidelines concerning exploiting UMCS Residence Halls and the Academic Canteen;

The deposit/booking fee is not refundable if a student/doctoral student has caused damage to the room or common spaces and the costs of renovation are close to the amount of the deposit/booking fee. If the costs of renovation of the room or its equipment, or the common space in the dormitory are higher, a student/doctoral student shall incur full costs of damage, according to the estimate.
