Scientific Activity

1984 - I graduated from higher education at the MCS University in Lublin, Master’s degree in history;

1984 – 1996 I worked in primary schools as a teacher of history, in the years 1990-1994 as a school principal;

From 1996 to this day – I am employed at the Faculty of Humanities MCS University in Lublin: 1996-1999 employed as a teaching assistant, 1999 -  2008 as an assistant professor at the Institute of History; 2008 – 2012 as an associate professor at the Institute of Library and Information Science, from 2012 as an  professor at the same institute; from 2009 I’m a chief of Department of Information Science; from November 2017 I am the editor-in-chief of a scientific journal - Informatio et Scientia. Doctorate in the modern history of Poland, 1998 – “Teaching history at primary schools in Poland in the years 1944 – 1989”;

Habilitation in the modern history of Poland, 2008 – “Janusz Jędrzejewicz – the Pilsudski-ite and the reformer of the education 1885-1951”;

My academic achievements – 5 monographs, the editors of 3 collective monographs, 85 articles in scientific journals and collective monographs, I organized 4 national conferences, I presented scientific papers at 64 conferences;

Research interests: 

- former: history of Polish education in the twentieth century; ideological and political indoctrination in education; operation of special services to Polish education in the years 1944 - 1989; problems of modern humanistic education, use of information technology in education; the quality of education in higher education;

- current:

Information science: educational and scientific Internet database; sources for humanities research available on the Internet; Internet as a space for humanists scientific communication; information architecture and usability of educational and scientific services; bibliometrics and webometrics;

Digital humanities: information visualization and data analysis of large collections of text and graphics objects, the efficiency of transfer of information and knowledge through infographics, humanities on the Internet;
