Geomorphological changes in proglacial river valley bottoms (SW Svalbard)

We would like to announce a recent article by Dr hab. Leszek Gawrysiak, prof. UMCS and Prof. Dr hab. Waldemar Kociuba (Department of Geology, Soil Science and Geoinformation UMCS) published in Remote Sensing:

Gawrysiak L., Kociuba W., 2023. Similarity and Change Detection of Relief in a Proglacial River Valley (Scott River, SW Svalbard). Remote Sensing 15, 5066. https://doi.org/10.3390/rs15205066

The paper concerns the analysis of contemporary geomorphic changes in the proglacial valley floor of the Scott River catchment (northwest of Wedel Jarlsberg Land, southwestern Spitsbergen). Analyses were performed using high-resolution NMTs developed from TLS survey data acquired during expeditions in 2010 and 2013. Geomorphometric methods, including geomorphon maps, were used to compare the morphology of the Scott Valley floor and its changes. It was found that within the valley it is possible to distinguish zones characterized by different dynamics of relief changes referring to the activity of geomorphic processes.
