HR Excellence in Research

HR Excellence in Research site visit

Last Friday, March 17, experts from the European Commission visited UMCS assessing the implementation of the HR Excellence in Research award.

The European Commission awards the HR Excellence in Research distinction to institutions that meet high standards in creating good working conditions for science and R&D, preventing discrimination and conducting transparent recruitment processes, as described in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

Maria Curie-Sklodowska University earned the right to use the award in 2017. Last week's visit was an opportunity to present the solutions adopted so far, exchange good practices, and determine the next steps that should be taken in the future.

During the visit, the experts met with the Rector's College headed by JM Rector Prof. Dr. Radoslaw Dobrowolski, the Monitoring Team for the implementation of the HR Excellence in Research Strategy, pivot scientists (at different stages of their careers), foreign scientists, and Welcome Center staff.

The topics discussed during the meetings can be grouped into four areas regulated by the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers: ethics and professionalism; recruitment of employees; working conditions; training and career development.

The experts have presented to the Authorities of the UMCS a preliminary assessment of the measures implemented. We are currently waiting for the official renewal of the right to use the HR Excellence in Research award.
