Conference: “Regional Security Complex in Asia. Political and Military Dimensions”

is pleased to announce and invite to participate

in the scientific international conference:

 “Regional security complex in Asia. Political and military dimensions”

                                   which is being held in Lublin, October 10-11th 2019

The main aim of the conference is to analyse the characteristics of the regional security system and multilateral security processes in Asia in the XXI century with special emphasises on its military and political dimensions. The discussion will focus on current security threats and challenges to the security in Asia, the national strategies of Asian states in dealing with them and strengthening regional and international cooperation to ensure stability and security in this region. We would like to continue the debate that has been opened during the “EU – ASEAN. Models of Integration” conference, organized in 2017 but this year focus more on security complex of Asia. We hope that those two conferences would open a series of scientific meetings on regional security systems, what will be held in Lublin regularly.

The specific aims of the “Regional security complex in Asia. Political and military dimensions” conference are:

to determine current regional security characteristics, dimensions and processes in order to better observe and understand the security complexity Asia’s regional system;

  • to examine and scrutinize the security architecture in Asia;
  • to identify and analyse dynamics of political and military security threats and challenges in Asia;
  • to analyse the security processes and current international relations in Asia in the aspect of states’ activities in shaping, conducting national security strategies and agendas in achieving national security interests and goals;
  • to determine the roles of state and non-state actors in shaping distinctiveness of Asia security complex in the three sub-regional spheres of the North-East Asia, South-East Asia and South-West Asia;
  • to analyse the roles, activities and real achievements of regional institutions in constructing Asia’s security system in political and military.

The Organisers intend to design the conference agenda with the support of all interested researchers and experts who would like to submit both panel proposals (min. 3 participants) and individual papers. Proposed and accepted individual papers will be include into organized panels which will be announced in upcoming programme. We also would like to inform that submitted and accepted papers will be publish in one the leading Polish political science journals, after the reviewing process.

The deadline to submit panel or paper proposal is August 16th, 2019.

All of information about acceptance and paper details will be send no longer than 10 days after submitting proposal.

  3. The conference fee

Conference fee is 400 PLN and 300 PLN for Polish International Study Association members or 100 Euro. For the PhD students fee is 100 PLN or 25 Euro.

Fee and should be paid after the panel and/or paper acceptance but no later than September 10th 2019 by bank transfer to the account (with annotation: Participant’s name, Asia 2019)
