Terms of admission

International students at the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University enrolled in full-time degree study programmes taught in English are subject to tuition fees, unless specified otherwise.For more information on tuition fees, please visit: Tuition-fees (programmes taught in English).

Foreign students may be granted a waiver of tuition fees pursuant to terms laid down in the agreement between universities or international agreement. Foreigners can also receive the waiver of tuition fees under:

  1. the decision of the university Rector, the president of the Polish Academy of Sciences or the head of a research centre ;
  2. the decision of the minister or the director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange in case of the scholarship recipients.

The following persons are not charged tuition fees for full-time degree studies taught in Polish:

  1. citizens of the European Union (EU), Swiss Confederation or the European Free Trade Association states (EFTA) - signatories of the European Economic Area Agreement, as well as their family members, if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
  2. foreigners who have been granted a permanent residence permit or a long-term EU residence permit;
  3. foreigners who in the territory of Poland have been granted a temporary residence permit (residence permit for a fixed period) due to circumstances referred to in referred to in Articles: 159 (1), or Article 186 (1) subsections 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners;
  4. foreigners with a refugee status granted by the Republic of Poland and foreigners who have been granted a temporary protection or a subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland;
  5. holders of the C1 level certificate in Polish language issued by the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language
  6. holders of a valid Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka) or the administrative decision on the Polish origin
  7. spouses, children and parents of a Polish citizen, if residing in the territory of Poland.

Please note: International students not mentioned in points 2-7 are not eligible to receive a need-based financial aid or a student loan.
