Photo exhibition "Colours of the Arctic - Spitsbergen"

In the minds of many people, the Arctic is seen as a land covered with ice, hidden under a thick layer of white snow, grey, gloomy and enigmatic. The reality, however, is different, even surprising, which can lead to amazement, of which you will be able to find out during the photo exhibition entitled "The colours of the Arctic - Spitsbergen".

The exhibition consists of 20 photographs taken by a long-term participant in the UMCS Polar Expeditions to Spitsbergen, an employee of the Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography at the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin - dr hab. Piotr Zagórski,  prof. UMCS.

The main theme of the exhibition is to show a wide range of stunning "Arctic Colours", associated with the prevailing season and the operation of the Sun above the horizon. The photos will show, among other things, the breathtaking aurora borealis, picturesque glaciers and local fauna and flora.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from 25 November 2021 to 9 January 2022 at the Meeting of Cultures Centre (Aleja Kultur +1).

Admission free.

The event is organised by our Institute and the Office for Promotion and Popularisation of Science of the Marie Curie-Skłodowska University.
