Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin Polish Geographical Society, Lublin Division would like to invite you to XXI Field Seminar Interdisciplinary Scientific Seminar under the title Methodology for reconstruction of climate and environmental changes recorded in loess covers conference dedicated to the memory of significant loess explorers under the honorary auspices of JM Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin Jarosław, eastern Poland ANNOUNCEMENTS I The seminar is addressed to researchers of Quaternary aeolian sediments. Its subject focuses on problems of the origin of loess material in Central Europe, with particular emphasis on Poland and Ukraine. The organisers plan to present the latest conclusions of research obtained during the implementation of several international projects. Hence, the presented results will concern the issues connected with the latest research methods, as well as current trends in loess deposits studies. Plenary lectures will be delivered by invited specialists from renowned scientific centres. They will be followed by profiled papers delivered by the organisers and then by participants grouped into profiled sessions. The lectures will be devoted to palaeogeography of loess areas, as well as geochemistry, palaeomagnetism, age and stratigraphic correlation. Moreover, there are planned presentations connected with the latest results of interdisciplinary research, especially geoarchaeological studies carried out in Poland and Ukraine. The aim of the field session (Jarosław surroundings) will be presentation of one of the key loess sites with a long history of research and rich database of results of analyses carried out by various methods. Moreover, the organisers plan to present the latest results of research on several Palaeolithic archaeological sites. The seminar aims at integration of Quaternary researchers from Poland and neighbouring countries. Papers concerning especially new methods applied recently in loess research will be preferred. Results of geophysical investigations clarifying stratigraphic position of key loess profiles will also be welcome. Moreover, results of research within 3 scientific project of National Science Centre – supervisors Prof. J. Nawrocki, Prof. Z. Jary and Prof. M. Łanczont – concerning Polish and Ukrainian loesses will be presented.
