Chromatographic Analysis Laboratory and NMR/LC-NMR-MS Laboratory

Both facilities are equipped to render services and solve problems in the areas of medicine, pharmacy, cosmetics, agriculture and food chemistry, environmental protection, criminalistics, to name just a few, both in the scientific and industrial context.

Laboratory equipment:

1. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer 600 MHz (14 T) adapted to perform LC-NMR-MS tests;
2. Multidimensional chromatography system (IT-TOF-TQ) composed of fluid chromatography devices and mass spectrometers;
3. Amino acids analyser for ultrafast amino acids analyses coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer;
4. Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) device with a DAD detector;
5. Gas chromatography device coupled with a triple quadruple mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS) with an additional pyrolysis extension;
6. Gas chromatography device with a FTIR detector (GC-FTIR);
7. Dual channel gas chromatography device with FID and ECD detectors facilitating the analysis of liquid and HS/SPME samples;
8. Elemental analyser C, H, N, S, and O.

The laboratory also utilises equipment for the automatic preparation of analysis samples:
1. Pressure liquid extraction system (PLE);
2. Supercritical fluid extraction system (SFE);
3. Automatic SPE extractor;
4. Preparative chromatography device with Flash columns support.

1. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer 600 MHz (14 T) adapted to LC-NMR-MS test
- Actively shielded superconducting magnet 14.095T with the resonance frequency for 1H nuclei 600 MHz;
- High-resolution digital console with three independent radio-frequency channels (a high-frequency channel with the frequency range corresponding to 1H/19F nuclei; two broadband channels for low-frequency operation with linear amplifiers with the frequency range corresponding to 31P
15N nuclei);
- System controlling and regulating the uniformity of the superconducting magnet's magnetic field;

- Liquid phase measurement probe
600 MHz. Automatically regulated, dual-channel, 5 mm Z gradient probe. (Measurement range 1H/19F , 31P 15N, 2H lock coil, temperature range -150 oC to +150 oC) and a triple-channel 5 mm probe with a 1H observation coil, 13C and 15N decoupling coils, and a 2H lock coil with a Z gradient coil
- LC-NMR measurement system compatible with the NMR 600MHz spectrometer;
- Spectrometer with an ESI source, quadrupole and time-of-flight mass analyser (qTOF for the mass range of 20 - 40.000 m/z) compatible with the NMR 600MHz spectrometer.

2. Multidimensional chromatography system (IT-TOF-TQ) composed of fluid chromatography devices and mass spectrometers
Mass spectrometer with an octopole, ion trap and time-of-flight analyser (IT-TOF)
- ESI ionisation source (with the possibility of installing other source types including
  DUIS, APCI, APPI, and nano-ESI);
- Linear connection between the ion trap with the TOF analyser and the reflectron (thermostatic reflectron);
- Ion trap supporting DC and RF signals ensures at least 10-fold fragmentation - MS10.

Triple quadrupole (TQ) mass spectrometer
- Mass range from 10 to 2000 m/z;
- Measurement modes: Q1 scan/SIM, Q3 scan/SIM, MRM, neutral loss scan, precursor ion scan, and product ion scan;
- ESI ionisation source.

3. Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) device with a DAD detector
- spectral range from 190 to 700 nm;
- functionality of deconvoluting peaks overlapping with the 2D and 3D function.

4. Amino acids analyser for ultrafast amino acids analyses coupled with a quadrupole mass spectrometer and UV-VIS detector
Single quadrupole mass spectrometer
- ESI ion source;
- m/z range 10-2000.

5. Gas chromatography device coupled with a triple quadruple mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS) with an additional pyrolysis extension
- Detector fitted with an octapole collision cell with the capacity for measuring 32000 channels in the MRM mode;
- Electron ionisation.

6. Gas chromatography device with a FTIR detector (GC-FTIR)
- Source of radiation - ceramic source with SiN for the range of 9 600 20 cm-1;
- Detectors: DLaTGS with a KBr window for the range of 12 000 - 350 cm-1 and high sensitivity MCT with liquid nitrogen cooling for the range of 11 700 - 600 cm-1 in the GC-IR module;
- Resolution capacity under 0.09 cm-1;
- 90º Michelson inferometer.

7. Dual channel gas chromatography device with FID and ECD detectors facilitating the analysis of liquid and HS/SPME sample
- support for all types of capillary columns (up to 0.53 mm in diameter) and thermostatic packed columns up to 400oC;
- support for the LVI (Large Volume Injection) option.

8. Elementary analyser C, H, N, S, and O
- Fitted with two separate reaction furnaces (reducing-oxidising for C,H,N,S analyses and pyrolytic for O analyses.

9. Pressure liquid extraction system (PLE)
- The device ensures very fast extraction (10 - 20 min.) of organic compounds from solid and semi-solid samples with the use of small quantities of solvents (15 18 ml, sample mass up to 10 g.

10. Supercritical fluid extraction system (SFE)
- Possibility of extracting solid samples;
- Temperature range up to 200°C with ± 0.5°C fine-tuning;
- Maximum pressure - 65 MPa.

11. Automatic SPE extractor
- Automatic sorbent conditioning, sample application, rinsing, washing and nitrogen flushing;
- Allows simultaneous extraction on 4 cartridges, columns or discs (compatible with 3, 6mL columns);
- Integrated vapour suction system.

12. Preparative chromatography device with Flash columns support
- Compatible with HPLC columns and Flash columns;
- Connectivity with a cuntercurrent chromatograpy device (CCC or CPC)
