Personal information

Chemistry has always been a special subject for me, so since I can remember I wanted to learn its secrets. In 1990, I started my studies at the Chemical Technical School in Kielce, and five years later I graduated. The natural course of things for me was to start studies related to this field of science. In 1995, the choice fell on the University of Warsaw. My interests at that time focused on theoretical chemistry and crystallography, which I studied in the group of Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Woźniak. During my studies, I went to Nijmegen as part of the Erasmus program, where I dealt with solid state chemistry. Before I graduated from the University of Warsaw, I received a proposal to do a doctorate at Radboud University in Nijmegen. The PhD was a fascinating period in my life. During this time, I traveled extensively to France to the ESRF synchrotron, even several times a year. Most of the research from that period concerned surface diffraction, which I studied under the supervision of an excellent teacher and my master Prof. Elias Vlieg. In 2005, after completing my doctorate, I started working in Germany at the Faculty of Physics at the University of Kiel. During my stay in Germany, I still had the opportunity to go to synchrotrons many times, including DESY. Due to the research carried out there related to the electrochemistry of metal surfaces, I had to improve my skills. I was able to gain practical knowledge in this field during my stay in the group of Prof. Juana Feliu in Alicante. After returning to Poland in 2008, I was employed at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. Thanks to this twist of fate, I met outstanding scientists, Professor Andrzej Niewiadomy and Professor Mariusz Gagoś. Thanks to them, I became interested in synthetic compounds, i.e. thiadiazoles, and a whole group of biologically active compounds (flavones, flavones, isocyanates, chalcones, etc.) and their properties. I also learned about interesting techniques used in the study of membrane systems. In 2017, I moved to the Faculty of Chemistry at UMCS because I wanted to conduct research related to chemistry. We continue to study the properties of compounds of natural origin together with my PhD students.
