Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA) is a modern University with rich history. In 1632 the Golden Age school Athenaeum Illustre was established to train students in trade and philosophy. Today, with 30,000 and 5,000 staff, with a budget of more than 600 million euro, it’s the one of the largest general research universities. Teaching and research at the UvA are conducted at seven faculties: Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Economics and Business, Law, Science, Medicine and Dentistry.
