UMCS visit in Ukraine

Between 11th and 15th October of this year, Vice-rector for students and education quality - Professor Dorota Kołodyńska and the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University Recruitment Office: Dr Taras Bondarenko and MA Kateryna Drozdiuk took part in a trip to Ukraine.

As part of the visit, meetings were held with candidates for studies - high school students and their parents, teachers of the Polish language and Polish diaspora organizations.

A meeting with Polish language teachers and international recruiters was held in the Lviv district library for children. On that day, the UMCS education offer was presented - fields of study, courses and training. Possibilities for further cooperation were also discussed. The next meeting in Lviv took place at the Lviv Secondary School, where the issues of organizing innovative teaching methods, developing space for study and leisure, and motivating students to learn abroad were discussed. The headmaster of the high school - Andrii Zakaluk, showed the participants around the facility and introduced the guests to the infrastructure and projects of the students, incl. The school's radio station and the Students' Parliament.

Then the UMCS delegation moved to Tarnopol, where it took part in a meeting with students and the authorities of the Tarnopol Cooperative Professional College. This facility educates students in economics, arts and tourism. Students participated in a presentation on the recruitment rules and the UMCS educational and scholarship offer, while representatives of the authorities discussed the possibilities of tightening the cooperation.

The next day, a meeting with parents of potential candidates for studies took place at the Chmielnicky Information Centre. During the discussion, they talked about their experiences of undertaking education abroad and presented the problems they faced on their way. They also expressed their thanks for the well-organized process of recruiting and servicing international students. Delegates also met with representatives of Polish diaspora organizations from the city of Khmelnytsky and the Khmelnytsky region, where possible areas of cooperation were discussed. The last visit took place in Kamieniec Podolski, where representatives of UMCS met with the local Polish community.

The trip made it possible to see new areas of international cooperation and showed interest in establishing and developing relations between UMCS and educational institutions in Ukraine. In addition, he familiarized potential candidates for studies at UMCS with the educational offer of the University and the "Talents at UMCS" competition, which allows foreigners to study at our University free of charge.
