UMCS Student wins gold medal at the XXXII Olympic Games

Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik, the UMCS student (the Faculty of Law and Administration) and the AZS UMCS Lublin competitor becomes the Olympic Champion in mixed relay - together with her teammates: Kajetan Duszyński, Natalia Kaczmarek, Justyna Święty-Ersetic, Karol Zalewski, Iga Baumgart-Witan and Dariusz Kowaluk.

After the semi-final, in which the Poles (including Dariusz Kowaluk, Iga Baumgart-Witan, Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik, and Kajetan Duszyński) set a new European record (3: 10.44), our team was a strong candidate for medals. During the final, some changes were made in our team: Kajetan Duszyński, Natalia Kaczmarek, Justyna Święty-Ersetic and Karol Zalewski were our representatives. The Polish team made it clear that they are equal and strong. During three shifts they were in the forefront of all competitors, and then thanks to Duszyński, they led the field over competitors. Poland claimed the title and the gold medal with a winning time of three minutes and 9.87 seconds (3:09.87) and at the same time, they improved the European record and the record of the Olympic Games. The Polish team was followed by the Dominican Republic silver medal (3:10.21) with the United States the bronze one (3:10.22).

Congratulations!
