Our professors on the board of POLQUA

We are pleased to announce that the authorities of the newly established Polish Association of Quarternary Research include Prof. Dr hab. Irena A. Pidek (Vice President) and Prof. Dr hab. Maria Łanczont (Chairperson of the Audit Committee). 

Both Professors represent the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the UMCS in Lublin. On 26 May 2023 the association was officially registered in the National Court Register (KRS no.: 0001038329). The President of POLQUA is Prof. Dr hab. Zdzisław Jary from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Wrocław University.

We congratulate our Institute colleagues on assuming these honourable positions and wish them success in the field of interdisciplinary activities in Quaternary science!

POLQUA's statutory objectives include:

  • to act for the development of Quaternary science in cooperation with related associations, organisations and institutions at home and abroad;
  • creating and stimulating scientific and research work in Quaternary science, work of an interdisciplinary nature, especially in the field of Earth and environmental sciences;
  • developing scientific qualifications for the advancement of Quaternary knowledge;
  • shaping and protecting the professional position of Quaternary scientists;
  • popularising the content of Quaternary science in non-scientific circles;
  • fostering the protection of the natural environment with particular reference to sites of exceptional scientific interest.
