"Geoenvironment: Climate - Environment - Human" - Report on the Implementation of the NCN Grant

Today, April 5, 2024, the 1st National Scientific Conference "Geoenvironment: Climate - Environment - Human" is taking place. It's organized by the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow.

During the conference, as part of the reporting activities related to the implementation of the NCN OPUS grant "Global, regional, and local factors determining the paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental record...", the following topics will be presented:

  • Stratigraphic markers and environmental determinants recorded in Pleistocene sediments of the middle Dnieper valley (Ukraine) - presented by Prof. Dr Hab. Maria Łanczont;
  • Variability of physicochemical characteristics in loess-soil sequences as an expression of climatic-environmental fluctuations in the Dnieper basin (Ukraine) - presented by Dr Hab. Przemysław Mroczek, Prof. UMCS.

Additionally, two members from our Institute are participating in the aforementioned 1st National Scientific Conference:

  • Dr. Krzysztof Bartoszek - Relations between selected climate elements and the increase of soil moisture deficit in Central Europe;
  • Dr. Piotr Demczuk - Unconsidered attempts at economic activation of rural areas and their impact on the stability of earth fortifications from the medieval period.
