On Thursday (24 November) at 5.15 pm, we invite you to another lecture organised as part of the weekly lectures prepared by the Lublin Branch of the Polish Geographical Society. The speaker will be Prof. Stanisław Chmiel, who will present a lecture entitled "Backyard sewage treatment plants - protection or threat to groundwater?". About the lecture: the aim of the presentation is to analyse domestic wastewater treatment systems in areas of individual housing. The environmental and legal conditions for the construction of "domestic wastewater treatment plants" will be presented. Their functioning and impact on groundwater quality will be discussed using examples from the Lublin region. Research funded by the National Science Centre, project no. 2020/37/B/ST10/01994 Stanisław Chmiel - scientific and didactic member of our Institute, head of the Department of Hydrology and Climatology. His research interests include: hydrochemistry, hydrometry, elemental cycles in the hydrological cycle, application of tracer methods to identify the impact of climate change on the water cycle. Author/co-author of dozens of scientific publications, expert reports, opinions and reviews. Place: E.
