Visit of dr hab. Paweł Pasierbiak at the Gannon University

On March 14-18, Paweł Pasierbiak, Ph.D., head of the Department of World Economy and European Integration, visited the United States, implementing international mobility under the Erasmus+ program KA107. The visit to Gannon University (Erie, PA) was delayed almost two years due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Paweł Pasierbiak, Ph.D., conducted a series of lectures on international economic integration, including integration in the Asia-Pacific region. As part of the classes, due to the interest of GU students and employees, topics related to the economic and social consequences of the war in Ukraine were also discussed. Erie, Lublin's partner city, is home to a large group of Ukrainians and Poles; therefore, Polish-Ukrainian relations and issues related to the ongoing military conflict met with great interest of the audience.

The coordinator of cooperation under the program on the side of Gannon University is Dr. Bruce A. Kibler, who this semester also conducts the 'Strategic Management' course for students of the Faculty of Economics.

The activities undertaken under the Erasmus+ program promote activity within the framework of cooperation between UMCS and Gannon University and within the framework of cooperation between sister cities (Lublin-Erie). The effects so far include, among others, two scientific papers published jointly by Dr. Paweł Pasierbiak and Dr. Bruce A. Kibler. It means that the cooperation between UMCS and GU, besides the didactic aspect, also develops the scientific one.

The visit to Gannon University was also an opportunity to promote English-speaking studies offered at the Faculty of Economics of UMCS. The presented offer met with the interest of American students. If a new Erasmus+ program application is accepted, students from Gannon University will be able to either pursue part of their studies at our Faculty or undertake studies as part of first or second cycle studies. Similarly, students of the Faculty of Economics will be able to spend a semester at Gannon University.
