Lecturers from the Faculty of Economics in Tanzania

As part of the Erasmus+ KA 171 program, four lecturers from the Faculty of Economics of UMCS went to Morogoro in Tanzania on May 19, 2023, to conduct classes on the following topics at the partner university Jordan University College (JUCo): "Biases in financial decisions" (Dr hab. Mariusz Kicia ), "Globalization and regional economic integration as two main tendencies in the world economy" (Dr hab. Paweł Pasierbiak), "Innovations and innovation policy" (Dr Jakub Czerniak, Prof. of UMCS) and "Measuring income disparities" (Dr Konrad Czernichowski) – each in four different groups. In addition, on May 23, Anna Sanga, a third-year student of Tourism Management at UMCS, shared her experience of studying at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management. On May 24, thanks to the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and the Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics and Finance in the delegation, talks were held on cooperation with two public universities: Mzumbe University (MU) in Morogoro and College of Business Education (CBE) in Mwanza, and an executive protocol was signed to the Memorandum of Understanding from 2018 between UMCS and JUCo.

After that the four lecturers travelled to Mwanza where Prof. Mariusz Kicia presented the offer of UMCS to the numerous students gathered in the open air. He also mentioned – in the presence of members of the CBE student government – the possibility of organizing an intercontinental online student forum. Students were particularly interested in the scholarship offer. They received brochures about UMCS in Swahili, as well as giveaways. Then, Dr. Konrad Czernichowski gave a guest lecture for undergraduate students entitled „Economic integration in Africa. Theory and practice”. The director of the Mwanza campus, Dr. Robert Galan Mashenene, assured that his lecturers would gladly take the opportunity to publish their articles in "Annales UMCS, Sectio H (Oeconomia)" later this year. Cooperation with universities in Tanzania is developing dynamically and there are still many ideas waiting to be implemented.
