3rd SPEAC Workshop in Lublin

On 17th May, the Faculty of Economics hosted an online meeting under the Jean Monnet Network Project (SPEAC). It was the 3rd workshop for participants of the project (previous meetings were organized by Uppsala University, Sweden and Bochum Ruhr University, Germany).
In Lublin, scholars from Europe and Asia presented their work on main theme of the project: Building Connectivity: Strategies for EU-Asia Relations. Among speakers were representatives of the Faculty of Economics: prof. Paweł Pasierbiak and prof. Tomasz Białowąs. They presented on two topics: Driving forces of connectivity and Development of Interregional Production Network between the European Union and Asia (full program of the meeting can be find here)
The workshop builds upon ongoing cooperative research of the Department of World Economy and European Integration at Maria Curie Sklodowska University (Poland) with Korea University (Republic of Korea), EU Center in Singapore at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Germany), and Uppsala University (Sweden). The activity is designed to strengthen intra-European and transregional research activities – thereby bringing together different research approaches from various European and Asian countries and actors.
The European-Asian Research Network on Strategies for Promoting Europe-Asia Connectivity (SPEAC) is supported by the European Union under Erasmus+ (2019-2022) and furthers the development of a Europe-Asia research network on strategies for promoting connectivity between Europe and Asia.

SPEAC contributes to establishing and developing a comprehensive research network that assesses three major areas of connectivity between Europe and Asia, i.e., economy and trade, politics and security, as well as people-to-people and the rule of law. All research activities contribute to exploring the contextualization, challenges, and opportunities of EU-Asia connectivity and the development of respective policy recommendations.
