Jubilee of professional work of Professor Maria Łanczont

On September 9-10 this year was held an interdisciplinary scientific seminar entitled "Glacial and periglacial of Central Europe" combined with the jubilee of professional work of Professor dr hab. Maria Łanczont from the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences at MCSU. Yesterday (9 September), at the seat of the Lublin Scientific Society, the conference was officially opened, during which the professor was honoured. Rector of UMCS prof. Radosław Dobrowolski and the authorities of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management and the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences of UMCS presented prof. Łanczont symbolic gifts and souvenirs in recognition of many years of work for the University.

Prof. Maria Łanczont is an eminent geographer, and she tied her studies and her entire professional life with Lublin and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. He specializes in physical geography, geomorphology and palaeogeography. As an academic teacher, she promoted 120 masters of geography and tourism and recreation, was a promoter of 10 doctoral dissertations, a reviewer in several habilitation procedures and professor promotion procedures. He is also active in many scientific bodies. She is a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, and in 2008–2011 and 2016–2019, she was a member of the Geographical Sciences Committee. Prof. he is also a member of the INQUA National Committee and the Association of Polish Geomorphologists. She is also a member of the Polish Geographical Society (she has the Golden Badge), the Polar Club (she participated in the UMCS expedition to Spitsbergen in 1987), the Lublin Scientific Society, and the Society of Friends of Sciences in Przemyśl.

Scientific activity of prof. Łanczont is highly appreciated not only by geographers. Recently, she became a member of AcademiaNet - a prestigious international portal for women with outstanding academic success.
