The Announcement of the UMCS Rector on the rules of confirming the assigned places in the UMCS Residence Halls in the 2022/2023 academic year, in the first round of application

on the rules of confirming the assigned places in the UMCS Residence Halls in the 2022/2023 academic year, in the first round of application

1. Student/Doctoral Student who has been assigned a place in a Residence Hall in the 2022/2023 academic year is required to confirm the reservation:

·         after receiving the decision of the Commission for Dormitories (after July 2, 2022), by confirming the assigned place only in the USOSweb system by 20 July 2022 and

·         by paying the deposit/booking fee no later than 26 July 2022.

2. The deposit/booking fee shall be used for:

·         securing the reservation of a place in the residence hall,

·         covering eventual losings caused by a student/doctoral student in the facility.

3. The deposit/booking fee referred to in item 1 amounts to PLN 400.

4. The deposit/booking fee shall be transferred to the student’s/doctoral student’s account and retained there. The account number for the payment shall be announced later. The payment date is considered to be the date on which the University’s account is credited.

5. The failure to pay the fee by 26 July 2022 (the payment date is considered to be the date on which the University’s account is credited) shall result in cancelling the reservation of the place in the UMCS dormitory, even if it was confirmed in the USOSweb system.

6. Reapplying for a place in a UMCS Residence Hall shall be possible if there are places available after the second round of application (i.e. after 20 September 2022).

7. The deposit/booking fee shall be fully refunded to a student/doctoral student after he/she checks out from the UMCS Resident Hall if the room, the furniture and equipment in the room, or the common spaces were not damaged by the fault of the student/doctoral student, subject to item 8 and 9. The deposit/booking fee shall be refunded within 14 days from the date when the student/doctoral student checked out from the dormitory, to the account from which it was transferred or to the account indicated by the student/doctoral student.

8. The deposit/booking fee is not refundable if a student/doctoral student:

·   does not inform the manager of the dormitory about resigning from the place assigned in the 2022/2023 academic year by 15 September 2022 by sending an email at the email address of the dormitory (email addresses are available on the website: https://www.umcs.pl/en/umcs-dormitories,15042.htm);

·    does not accommodate in the dormitory within 7 days from the beginning of the academic year, according to the 2022/2023 academic year calendar;

·    has been expelled from the dormitory for flagrant violation of the Regulations of Social Benefits for UMCS Students in regard to the guidelines concerning exploiting UMCS Residence Halls and the Academic Canteen;

9. The deposit/booking fee is not refundable if the student/doctoral student has caused the damage to the room, its furniture or equipment, or the damage to other common spaces in the dormitory and the costs of renovation are close to the amount of the deposit/booking fee. If the costs of renovation of the room, its furniture or equipment, or the common space in the dormitory are higher, the student/doctoral student shall incur full costs of damage.
