Signing an agreement with Asseco Data Systems

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin and Asseco Data Systems S.A. - a company belonging to the Asseco capital group, the sixth-largest software producer in Europe - signed a cooperation agreement.

The cooperation of both partners will be based, inter alia, on the implementation of scientific, implementation, educational or social projects, application and implementation of joint IT projects and cooperation in the implementation of diploma theses - bachelor's and master's, doctoral dissertations in the field of computer science and implementation of implementation doctorates. The priority areas of cooperation will focus primarily on developing VR applications (Virtual Reality), new cybersecurity solutions, and modern IT solutions for higher education.

The press conference was opened by the UMCS Rector, prof. Radosław Dobrowolski. - Today's signing of the contract between Asseco Data Systems and UMCS is a unique event for the University, as it begins close, long-term cooperation. The contract's scope includes support in research, implementation works, and educational and promotional activities. The agreement concerns three basic issues, i.e. innovative VR areas, modern techniques in the field of cybersecurity and the development of software technologies for the management of doctoral schools - said, prof. Radosław Dobrowolski, Rector of UMCS. - Today's signing of the contract is also a special event for ECOTECH-COMPLEX, established as a consortium unit to develop cooperation between academic and business entities. The contract with such a strategic IT company on the market as Asseco Data Systems opens a new chapter in ECOTECH-COMPLEX's functioning - emphasized the Rector of UMCS. The pandemic's time shows how important remote communication and good tools, software, and IT techniques are during limited direct contact. I want to emphasize that this agreement is of a strategic nature clearly - said the Rector of UMCS.

Then the Director of ECOTECH-COMPLEX prof. Ryszard Naskręcki said about the goals he set for himself as the facility manager and the plans related to the cooperation. - One of my goals is to search for strategic partners such as Asseco Data Systems. This unit, which is part of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, has great opportunities to cooperate and create various directions and activity areas. Thus, it needs large strategic partners - said Prof. Ryszard Naskręcki. - We want to not only cooperate with Asseco Data Systems but also create new solutions. We want ECOTECH-COMPLEX to develop more strongly basic and applied research. We are in the third decade of the 21st century, and we are aware that we cannot do much without modern IT solutions - he emphasized.

Daniel Lala, Vice President of the Management Board of Asseco Data Systems, thanked the representatives of UMCS for their trust and referred to the cooperation that has been going on for a decade and it is future. - Asseco cooperates with over 50 universities in Poland. Such an excellent university as UMCS is an excellent partner. The Asseco Group has been cooperating with the University for over 10 years, maintaining, for example, the SAP system. Now we are talking about cooperation in scientific and research work and R&D projects using EU funds. This cooperation is beneficial for the University, Asseco Data Systems and the region, emphasized Daniel Lala.

At the end of the press conference, Robert Bagiński, President of the Management Board of American Systems, spoke, declaring his strict support for the jointly chosen goals. - American Systems will support all the activities that we have planned with prof. Naskręcki - both in terms of the concept and the production of the products themselves - in particular those VR and those related to university management. We are full of hope and willingness to implement our common goals.
