Scientific 60 minutes - Prof. dr hab. Eng. Krzysztof Olszewski, UP

Scientific 60 minutes is an initiative of cyclical online lectures with scientists with recognized achievements in the country and abroad and young, promising researchers created by the Institute of Biological Sciences of UMCS.

We cordially invite all employees and students to the next lecture as part of the Scientific 60 minutes cycle.

Our guest at the next event will be Dr. hab. Eng. Krzysztof Olszewski, prof. UP - an employee of the Apiculture Department at the Institute of Biological Basis of Animal Production, Faculty of Animal Sciences and Bioeconomy of the University of Life Sciences.

He will present a lecture entitled: "The Bee Family - A Multi-Body Mammal", which will deal with the honeybee family's evolutionary achievements.

The meeting will be held on 14th April 2021, at 14:00 on the MS Teams platform, link to the event.

Dr hab. Eng. Krzysztof Olszewski, prof. UP

An employee of the Apiculture Department at the Institute The biological basis of animal production, Faculty of Animal Sciences and Bioeconomy of the University of Life Sciences.

In 2013, at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, he defended his habilitation thesis: "Biology, utility and resistance to Varroa destructor of bee colonies kept on combs with small cells". Research interests of prof. Krzysztof Olszewski includes the biology of the honeycomb, the honeycomb's influence as an element in the nest's environment, the features of bees and bee colonies, natural mechanisms of resistance of bee colonies to the Varroa destructor parasite, apiary economy. His lecture entitled "Bee family - multi-body mammal" will refer to the honeybee family's evolutionary achievements.
