Resolution No -7.6/21 of April 28, 2021 amending Resolution No. XXIV - 26.5/19 of the Senate of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin of April 24, 2019 on Study Regulations

amending Resolution No. XXIV - 26.5 / 19 of the Senate of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin of April 24, 2019 on Study Regulations

 Pursuant to Article 28, section 1, item 2 of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2020, item 478 as amended) as well as article 79 section 6a of the Act of April 16, 2020 on special support instruments in connection with the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (Journal of Laws, item 695 as amended) the Senate of Maria Curie Skłodowska University has ordered as follows:

§ 1

In the Study Regulations attached to Resolution No. XXIV - 26.5 / 19 of the Senate of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin of April 24, 2019 on the study regulations it is amended as follows:

1) in § 1 section 3 the second sentence is deleted:
“The student ID card is subject to return (this includes graduates of the long cycle and second cycle programmes)”;

2) in § 2 subsection 1 and  § 9 subsection 4 the term learning outcomes remains the same;

3) in § 3 sections 4 and 8, the term Disabled  Students  Office, is replaced by the term Support Office for Students with Disabilities;

4) in § 7:
a) in section 1 subsection 4 shall be amended as follows:
“with a disability or a chronic disease”,

b) in section 3, the second sentence is replaced by the following:
“Obtaining  a  consent  to  the  individual course of study does not exempt from achieving learning outcomes specified in the study programme”,

c) section 5 is amended as follows:
“After the expiry of the time limits set out in section4,the Dean may agree to the individual course of study due to other justified cases”,

d) section 6 is added as follows:
“6. UMCS Rector shall define the detailed rules for granting individual study organization by way of an ordinance”

5) after § 7, § 7a is added as follows:
,,1. With the consent of the teacher conducting the classes, the student may transfer ECTS points obtained in another course of study.
2. The condition for recognizing the ECTS points obtained in another course of study for a  place of the points assigned to classes and internships specified in the plan and programme of studies is the confirmation of the convergence of the obtained learning outcomes.
3. The basis for recognizing ECTS points is a document confirming that the courses have been successfully completed together with a list of grades and the number of obtained ECTS points. In case of doubts connected with the achieved learning outcomes, the teacher may exempt the student from participation in the classes and impose the obligation to take an exam / course credit at the same time.
4. As a result of the recognition of ECTS points obtained in another field of study, no more than 50% of the total number of ECTS points may be credited.
5. At the request of the Dean’s Council, the Senate may establish a list of subjects which cannot be credited through the recognition of ECTS points.”;

6) in § 21 section 3, subsection 4 is amended as follows:
“the student shall write one diploma thesis (if the programme of study provides for such a requirement)”;

7) Examinations  and  credit  awards  may  be  held  outside the  University. The Rector shall determine the rules of conducting and organising examinations and course credits remotely By way of an ordinance;

8) in § 29:
a) in sections 1 and 2, the term academic teacher used in different grammatical cases is replaced by the term teacher conducting the classes,
b) in section 5, the fourth sentence is added as follows:
“A member of the commission cannot be a teacher who conducts classes in the cases referred to in section 1 and section 2 subsection 2.”,
c) in section 6, the first sentence is amended as follows:
“ The Dean notifies about  the  date  of the examination/credit award  before  a commission the Faculty Student Self-Government or the University Student Self-Government,  which  may  send its representative in  the  capacity  of an observer.”
d) in section 6, the third sentence is added as follows::
“The Faculty Student Self-Government is notified first. the University Student Self-Government is notified when the Faculty Student Self-Government cannot delegate its observer.”

9) in § 30 section 5, subsection 2 is repealed;

10) § 34 section 6 is amended as follows:
“The  scope  and  form  of  the diploma examination shall  be determined  by  the Senate in consultation  with  the Faculty Student Self-Government and announced  to  students at least a  year before the scheduled date of graduation”;

11)  in § 35:
a) in the second sentence, section 2, the full stop shall be replaced with a comma and the following words shall be added: "if the Dean’s Council determines the requirement to submit a paper version.”;
b) in section 4 the full stop is replaced with a comma and the following words shall be added: ,, subject to paragraph 4a.”,
c) after section 4, section 4a is added:
“The diploma thesis may be prepared by more than one student, as long as it is possible to distinguish parts prepared independently by individual students and on this basis it is possible to determine the amount and substantive value of each of authors”;

12)  § 36 section 1 subsection 1 is amended as follows:
“receiving credits for all courses and internships included in the programme of study, if the internships are the part of the programme of study ”;

13)  In § 46 after section 4, section 5 is added:
“5. In the 2020/21 academic year, the student shall not submit a paper version of the diploma thesis prior to taking the diploma examination, unless the Dean’s Council determines such a requirement. The provision of § 35 section 2 does not apply.”.

§ 2

The amendment specified in § 1 subsection 13) comes into force on the day this Resolution is adopted by the UMCS Senate, in the remaining scope the amendments to the Resolution come into force on October 1, 2021.
