A competition for the best theses and doctoral theses in the field of forced displacement and refugee studies

The Field Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lublin, along with the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University are pleased to announce a competition for the best graduate (bachelor's/master's) and doctoral theses in the field of forced displacement and refugee studies.

The aim of the competition is to stimulate the interest of students and doctoral candidates in the issues of forced displacement and refugees, promote knowledge about the challenges of forced displacement and refugee crises, raise public awareness in this area, and encourage scientific research related to forced displacement and refugee issues. The competition also aims to support the research community focused on these matters.

The competition is open to bachelor's (and engineering), master's, and doctoral theses written and successfully defended between 1st January 2021 to 30th September 2023. Submissions are to be made by the authors of the theses, which were defended at one of the universities in the Lublin Voivodeship, through the provided form.

Awards and distinctions will be granted in three categories of theses. Authors of the theses earning first and second place will receive material prizes, while the third-place winners will be recognized.

Schedule:

6th November 2023 – Announcement of the Competition
19th November 2023, at 11:59 PM – Deadline for thesis submissions
15th December 2023 – Competition results announced by the jury
22nd December 2023 – Award ceremony for the winners
