Borrowing library collections is entitled for:

  • UMCS employees and students;
  • academic teachers of other Lublin colleges;
  • employees of Lublin scientific institutions: the Polish Academy of Sciences, scientific libraries, museums, archives;
  • UMCS graduates;
  • employees or students of universities cooperating in the Virtual Library Card project,
  • external readers.

People who do not have a library card authorizing to borrowing books are free to use the collections in reading rooms.

1. Rules of ordering collections

Books should be ordered through the UMCS Library Catalogue, you must sign in to your library account to order.

The number of daily orders for a reader's account is limited to:

  • 20 copies - UMCS employees and doctoral students
  • 10 copies - students of UMCS and employees of other scientific institutions in Lublin
  • 3 copies -   users outside UMCS (deposit accounts)
  • 3 copies -   WKB users
  • 10 copies -  users with "Reading Room Cards"

The submission of the next order is possible after picking up previously the ordered books. The book rental period can be extended unless there are booking reservations waiting.  

A reader with a valid library account can reserve books borrowed by another reader. Reservations can be made via the UMCS Library catalog for collections from the Main Library and specialized libraries by logging into your library account and placing an order using the "Order" button.

For a late book return the reader pays a fee of PLN 0.20 for each day of delay. In case you lose your book, you are obligued to buy it back.

2. Picking up the ordered books

Books can be picked up according to the order realization times in the Library Lending Department. Items that are not picked up within 5 days after the order date are sent to the storage.

The picking up of the ordered books is made by the owner of the library account upon presentation of the library card in the Lending Department. It can also be made by a person authorized by the library card holder by means of a permanent or a temporary authorization.

The person authorized to receive books should, upon picking up, present their identity card and the library card of the holder, in case of a single authorization they should also present the authorization.

The loan period for Readers WKB for the collection from the above locations is 30 days with the possibility of one extension for a period of 30 days.
