The programme is addressed to candidates holding high school diploma or any other equivalent degree. Admission of candidates is based on a grade in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics and Astronomy or Mathematics obtained during secondary school.

Prospective students register online in the online registration system IRK and file all the necessary documents within the deadline or until all the places available have been filled.

English language requirements:

In order to be eligible for a programme taught in English, candidates must demonstrate that they meet English requirements for a given programme.

Opis

The programme is dedicated mainly to foreigners. Our BSc Medical Biology programme has been designed as an academic bridge (premedical studies) for students interested in pursuing a career as a physician, who have never before taken introductory natural sciences courses. The programme advances students’ knowledge necessary for entry into the professional programmes in medicine and helps them to fulfil the MD programme requirements.

These undergraduate studies offer also a broad-basis programme in biology underlying the basic training for the professional biologist, biochemists, microbiologists, and biophysicists as well as provide a strong foundation for many other career opportunities. The learning outcomes provide our graduates with professional skills and knowledge required for work in medical laboratories, research institutions, sanitary-epidemiological stations, environmental protection institutions, and science-based industries.

The graduate of the BSc  Medical Biology programme has knowledge of basic disciplines of biology and biomedical sciences, including:  developmental biology, microbiology, human anatomy, parasitology, genetics with elements of human genetics, radiology, elements of pathophysiology, basics of pharmacology, biochemistry of nutrition, applied biology in medicine, biological basics of herbal medicine, physical basis of instrumental diagnostics and physiotherapy, human immunology with elements of virology, pharmacological botany, biomaterial engineering in medicine, and biochemical methods in clinical analysis.

Training is given through: lectures, exercises, laboratory classes as well as experimental scientific practical training. The best internationally recognized scientists of the University belong to the teaching staff of this new branch of studies.

A bachelor's degree in science provides strong transferable skills for a variety of careers. Our graduates would enter biology, biotechnology and technology related career in scientific or engineering research and development, in science-based industries, medical biology and in teaching.

Our graduates may choose to continue studying at UMCS or elsewhere in Poland or in the European Union countries.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSIONS

International candidates submit the following documents:

1. Candidate’s application form.

2. Personal questionnaire generated from the Internet Recruitment System.

3. Confirmation that the applicant has a fluent command of English language.

4. Original/duplicate of certificate of secondary education (in the case of applying for bachelor studies) or original/duplicate of bachelor diploma (in the case of applying for 2nd degree master studies) as well as a recognition certificate issued by a Board of Education in Lublin or any other board of education adequate for the place of residence of the person applying for the recognition certificate.

ATTENTION: Consulate of the Republic of Poland residing in a country in which the candidate's certificate of secondary education was issued must legalise the documents in order to make their recognition in Poland possible. If the candidate's certificate of secondary education was issued in a country which is a party of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961, the legalisation process is performed in a form of apostille located on or enclosed to the document. According to a proper international treaty, if a foreign certificate of secondary education may be accepted as equivalent to Polish certificate of secondary education, the recognition is not required. In this case, it is sufficient to provide the certificate with apostille affixed thereto. International Baccalaureate Diplomas (IB) as well as European Baccalaureate Diplomas (EB) are equivalent to Polish certificate of secondary education. In this case, the recognition process is not required. The recognition of university graduation diplomas is performed by a council of a basic organisational UMCS unit, authorised to grant doctorate degree.

5. Insurance policy, European Health Insurance Card or the candidate's obligation to join a health insurance in National Health Fund. Immediately after starting education at UMCS.

According to repatriation regulations, a foreigner of Polish origin can be insured by UMCS.

6. Medical certificate (clean bill of health) establishing that there are no contraindications for the candidate to start education in a chosen programme.

7. A copy of a passport (the page with a photograph and a number), visa or temporary residence card or other document qualifying the candidate for staying within the territory of the Republic of Poland.

8. One current ID card-style 35x45 mm photograph.
