Krzysztof Stachyra, PhD, MT-BC, a board certified music therapist and music teacher. Head of Postgraduate Music Therapy Study Program and assistant professor at The Department of Music Education and Music Therapy at Faculty of Arts, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland. Chairman in the Accreditation and Certification Commission, World Federation of Music Therapy. President of the Polish Music Therapists Association and also the Polish Association for Therapy Through Arts. Co-founder of Art Therapy Center, Lublin, Poland. European representative of Commission on Education and Training WFMT (2011-16). Editor-in-Chief for “Therapy Through Arts” journal and Co-editor for Journal of Biomusical Engineering (USA). Member of the Scientific Committee of the 10th European Music Therapy Congress in Vienna, 2016. Dr. Krzysztof Stachyra has over 20 years of experience in working in music therapy with children, youth and adults with different disabilities - mentally handicapped, autism, psychiatric disorders, as well as preventive and developmental activities carried out with healthy people. He is an author or editor of 5 books and several dozen articles in the field of music therapy.
Research Interests: implementing music therapy ideas in education to support students' emotional and social development; Music in receptive music therapy techniques and methods; role of sounds and voice timbre in music therapy interventions; Guided Imagery and Music.
