World Wetland Day 2022

On March 25, the World Day of Wetlands will be celebrated at the Faculty of Geosciences and Spatial Management of UMCS. The event is intended for secondary school students and anyone interested in the subject of wetlands.

World Wetlands Day is an international event celebrated on February 2. World Wetlands Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the signing of the Ramsar Convention (Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, especially as the habitat of waterfowl). The purpose of the celebration is to popularize knowledge about the natural role of wetlands as well as their enormous, though often underestimated, importance for everyday human life. Due to the pandemic, its celebrations at UMCS were postponed to March 25.

Among the organizers, apart from the employees of the Faculty of Geosciences and Spatial Management of UMCS, there are representatives of the Kampinos National Park.

It is possible to take part in the lecture part via the online broadcast (MS Teams).

The event was under the honorary patronage of: Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, prof. dr hab. Radosław Dobrowolski, Poleski National Park, Roztoczański National Park, Lublin Landscape Parks Complex, Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Lublin, Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Lublin.
