We are pleased to announce that the appeal process against the results of the evaluation of scientific activity for 2017-2021 has ended with success for our University. As a result, the Minister of Education and Science has positively considered and thus granted as many as five (out of six) applications submitted by the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin, thus raising the scientific category of the following disciplines:

  • Earth and environmental sciences - from B+ to A,
  • linguistics - from B+ to A,
  • technical informatics and telecommunications - from B to B+,
  • philosophy - from B to B+.

After the evaluation process, out of 23 evaluated scientific disciplines of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University of Lublin finally obtained the following:

The highest category A+ in the discipline of archaeology,

eleven scientific categories A: history, literature studies, physical sciences, social communication and media sciences, cultural and religious sciences, legal sciences, musical arts, plastic arts and conservation of works of art, political and administrative sciences, earth and environmental sciences, linguistics

ten B+ categories: economics and finance, socio-economic geography and spatial management, biological sciences, chemical sciences, management and quality sciences, sociological sciences, pedagogy, psychology, technical computing and telecommunications, philosophy,

one category B: mathematics.

In the opinion of the Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, prof. Radosław Dobrowolski, the final results of the evaluation of scientific activity are satisfactory and place us on par with the leading universities of the research university group. As the Rector adds: 'We have been preparing for this process for a long time in an extremely meticulous and methodical manner. The published results of assessing the quality of activity of scientific units reflect the scientific standing of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. They are a great success for all employees involved in the University's research and development activity. It is the merit of a whole group of people who were aware of the importance and significance of this process, in connection with which I would like to thank both the authorities of institutes, chairpersons of boards of scientific disciplines and all employees who approached this challenge very seriously and matter-of-factly, with the awareness that these results will translate into both greater prestige of the University, its position in the system of Polish higher education and the right to confer scientific degrees, as well as a better level of financing. The results of the evaluation of scientific units for 2017-2021 are also the aftermath of the entire motivational system implemented. They will be continued at our University to appreciate the effects related to scientific work in financial terms."

One of the goals guiding our Alma Mater is the constant pursuit of excellence in research, teaching and every other dimension of the University's operation, which is why, despite the recently published statement, the University continues its high scientific and research activity, which will be evaluated in the evaluation process for 2022-2025 and will take place in 2026.
