We are happy to announce that Dr Damian Nieckarz is the only one from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin to receive a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science for outstanding young scientists.
The scholarships were awarded to young scientists who conduct innovative scientific research of high quality and possess impressive scientific achievements of high prestige and international overtone. This benefit is granted to persons who have the status of a young scientist, i.e. they are doctoral students or academic teachers and do not have a doctoral degree, or have a doctoral degree which has not been obtained for 7 years, and are employed in the entities referred to in art. 7 sec—1 of the Act - Law on Higher Education and Science.
UMCS laureate - Dr Damian Nieckarz defended his doctoral thesis with distinction in 2016. "Theoretical studies of the self-organization of molecules in organometallic adsorbed layers". Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Theoretical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
In total, the minister awarded 217 scholarships this year. The winners were selected based on the competition by the experts of the Advisory Team and will receive scholarships of PLN 5,390 per month for up to 3 years. In this period, the Minister of Education and Science will allocate nearly PLN 42 million to finance the scholarships granted.
