UMCS AFRICA DAY 2025

Join us at Maria Curie Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin as we bring together scholars, diplomats, artists, and change makers to reflect on the legacies of colonialism and envision a self-determined future for Africa. Date: May 22, 2025 Time: 11:30 AM Venue: Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, ul. Głęboka 45, Lublin, Poland

UMCS Africa Day is an annual event held every May, first launched in 2019 at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism in its former building. Over the years, it has become a vibrant and eagerly anticipated celebration, bringing together students of African heritage, international students, and the Polish community to honor the rich cultural diversity and dynamism of the African continent.

This special event coincides with Africa Day, globally observed on May 25, commemorating the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU)—now the African Union (AU)—in 1963. Each year, our event's themes and areas of focus align with those set by the African Union, fostering meaningful discussions and cultural exchange while inspiring institutions and organizations worldwide to host similar celebrations.

Join us at Maria Curie Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin as we bring together scholars, diplomats, artists, and change makers to reflect on the legacies of colonialism and envision a self-determined future for Africa.
