Professor Zbigniew Pastuszak became deputy editor-in-chief of Expert Systems with Applications

We are pleased to announce that dr hab. Zbigniew Pastuszak, prof. UMCS, the vice-rector for development and cooperation with the economy and head of the Department of Information Systems and Logistics at the Faculty of Economics of UMCS, became deputy editor-in-chief of Expert Systems With Applications for an indefinite period.

The journal is indexed, among others, in Web of Science, Scopus and Science Citation Index Expanded. Its basic bibliometric indicators are CiteScore: 11.0; Impact Factor: 5,452 (according to JCR, Clarivate Analytics, 2020); H index = 162 (SCI Journal).

Prof. Z. Pastuszak has been cooperating with the ESWA magazine for several years. Initially, he participated in the work of the Review Board, preparing reviews of scientific articles for publication in ESWA (25 reviews in total) and winning the positions of Recognized Reviewer (2015) and Outstanding Reviewer (2017), and then he was included in the Scientific Council of the journal (Editorial Advisory Board), and together with the editor-in-chief, prof. Binshan Lin from Louisiana State University (USA) and nearly 90 scientists from 35 countries worldwide worked on the development and promotion of the journal, defining its basic thematic areas and selecting various groups of recipients of the published content. In October 2020, prof. Z. Pastuszak was proposed to the management board of the Elsevier publishing house as potential deputy editor-in-chief of ESWA, and after obtaining approval - appointed to the position of Associate Editor, as an editor co-responsible for the development of the following disciplines: Business Intelligence, Knowledge-based Systems, Data Science, Decision Support Systems, Prediction Systems, Early Warning Systems, Data-Driven Optimization, Intelligent Systems and AI in Business & Social Science.

Elsevier (Great Britain) is one of the largest scientific publishing houses globally and, at the same time, a company dealing with data analysis and sharing scientific information. Elsevier's solutions include, but are not limited to, the ScienceDirect online platform, the Scopus scientific database, and the SciVal (for evaluating scientific performance) and Mendeley solutions. Expert Systems with Applications has been published since 1990, with 4 issues per year. In March this year. Vol. 166 was released, and volumes numbered 174-177 are currently being prepared (with the expected publication date until September 2021). Due to the large number of articles sent for publication in ESWA (approx. 700-800 per month), with the approval level of approx. 14%, the journal has an equivalent electronic form (ESWA: X), with texts published in open access ). The fee for the article's publication - with the same principles and quality of the review and editing process - is USD 2,640 net. According to the Ministry of Education and Science's current list, the publication of an article in ESWA allows the author and the research unit to be assigned 140 points in the following disciplines: technical informatics and telecommunications, management and quality sciences and computer science.
