Orientation Day for International Students

UMCS International Student Office would like to invite UMCS students of English programmes to take part in the Orientation Day that will be held on Wednesday, 30th October 2019.

Date: 30th October (Wednesday)
Time: 8:30 – 12:00 BA students*
9:00 – 12:00 MA students
*We would like to invite BA students 30 minutes earlier due to the fact some legal aspects connected with their registration procedure have to be discussed.

International students accepted to study in 2019/20 academic year are invited to attend the event as it is a great opportunity to receive information about studying and staying in Lublin and to meet your fellow students.

During the meeting students will get to know the following issues:

  • legalisation of stay, obtaining residence permit,
  • registration  of residence,
  • accommodation and residential life regulations of UMCS dormitories,
  • personal safety, rights and obligations under the Polish law,
  • insurance & healthcare.

At the meeting you will also get a short insight to cultural life of Lublin as well as places worth visiting. Additionally, the programme of the event includes some icebreakers and warm-up activities which foster teamwork.

Speakers will include representatives of the Lublin City institutions as well as non-governmental organisations providing support to foreigners: Municipal Police and The Rule of Law Institute Foundation. Furthermore, members of some University’s associations will also be presented, for instance, representatives of UMCS Students' Union, ESN or British Council Centre.

Every participant will receive a welcome package. Snacks and refreshments will also be provided.

The event is organized as a part of task no. 8 Orientation Days under the project „Foreigners @ UMCS – a comprehensive set of actions and systemic solutions focused on institutional improvement and strengthening of UMCS in servicing international students and staff” within the framework of “Welcome to Poland” programme organized by National Agency for Academic Exchange.
