Entrepreneur's Day at UMCS

The Entrepreneur's Day will be held this Monday, June 21. On that day, a series of online reports with specialists, experts and business practitioners were planned in the social media of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

The Entrepreneur's Day is a unique initiative that encourages reflection on the role of large and small entrepreneurs who have a significant impact on the development of the Polish economy. The initiative is also to encourage students to undertake all activities related to development and entrepreneurship.

The initiative is free, and anyone interested can take part in it.

This Monday, we invite you to follow the UMCS profile on Facebook, where the event will be broadcast. At 9.00 am, The Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with the Economy, dr hab. Zbigniew Pastuszak, prof. UMCS will inaugurate entrepreneur's Day, which will talk about the idea of ​​Entrepreneur's Day.

Then at 12.00 pm, Dr Bartosz Twarowski, University Consultant for Entrepreneurship, will introduce all interested parties to various aspects of entrepreneurship. Finally, at 3.00 pm, Anna Grzegorczyk, Director of the Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at UMCS, will discuss the University's activities to support entrepreneurship.

At 6.00 pm, a debate on the essence of entrepreneurship in society and the entrepreneur as a creator of reality is planned, which will take place at the Ecotech-Complex Centre. The discussion will be attended by: Professor dr hab. Dorota Kołodyńska, UMCS Vice-Rector for Students and Quality of Education, Agnieszka Gąsior-Mazur, representative of the Lublin Business Club, dr hab. Mariusz Kicia, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at UMCS, Damian Lawenda, vice-president of Vilaro and Mateusz Toruń, founder of the WeDoLBN Foundation. The event will end at 8.00 pm with a special episode of the Academic Quarter of Entrepreneurship, in which the program leader, Dr Izabela Łucjan, an expert on the labour market and unemployment, labour changes and intellectual and social capital, will interview Dr Mariusz Filipek, legal advisor, president of the Union of Employers of the Lublin Region.

As part of the event, a competition is organized. The task is to come up with an innovative business idea. Works in the form of a multimedia presentation should contain from 8 to 10 slides. Works can be submitted individually or as a team (maximum 3 people) until 27th June 2021, by 23:59, to the email address izabela.lucjan@umcs.pl.

The Competition Committee will select the two most interesting ideas. It is possible to win a consultation of the idea in terms of content, taking into account market conditions with Anna Grzegorczyk, Director of the Centre for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at UMCS and dr Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department of the Lublin City Hall. In addition, each winner will receive a smartwatch. The results will be sent to the contestants' e-mail boxes no later than on 30th June 2021 by 23:59.
