End of the sports season at UMCS

On 28th June, in the UMCS Botanical Garden, the summary of the season was performed by the sports sections of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. The University is once again at the forefront of Polish universities!

The meeting was attended by: UMCS Rector - prof. dr hab. Radosław Dobrowolski, Vice-Rector for General Affairs - dr hab. Arkadiusz Bereza, Director of the Center for Physical Culture UMCS - Dr. Tomasz Bielecki, President of KU AZS UMCS Lublin - Rafał Walczyk, academic section trainers and invited guests.

Among the many successes of UMCS students and employees, this year are related to basketball. In the men's final tournament (3x3 basketball), the players from Lublin were second to none. They spectacularly won gold medals, winning all matches! The swimming results are also happy: second place for ladies and third for men during AMP, which took place in Lublin. The handball teams also performed well: the women's team won the runner-up, while the men's team won the bronze medal. While the charges of coach Patryk Maliszewski and Barbara Radlińska have got used to such successes, the result of the men is a big surprise and a confirmation of the huge progress made in the team after coach Łukasz Achruk took it over a year and a half ago. Usually, the podium was finished by footballers (now in 7th place), but this time the footballers did better! The ladies returned to Lublin with brown rings on their necks! UMCS representatives have recorded many impressive results on their accounts, for which President Rafał Walczyk gave thanks during the summary. UMCS also turned out to be the best university in the region, winning the Academic Championships of the Lublin Province.

On the other hand, there is only one competition to be played in AMP that will not change the balance of power in the Polish backyard. The green and white are currently in 6th place in the general classification and will finish the competition in the 2020/2021 season.
