Conferring the title of Professor to dr hab. Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska, Prof. UMCS

We are honoured to inform you that the President of the Republic of Poland, in his decision of 22nd March 2021, awarded the title of Professor of exact and natural sciences in the discipline of chemical sciences to Dr. hab. Agnieszka Nosal - Wiercińska, prof. UMCS from the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Sciences Faculty of Chemistry, UMCS in Lublin.

Professor Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska began her studies in 1994 at the Faculty of Chemistry, UMCS - chemistry, which she graduated in 1999. She started her scientific work as an assistant at the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University at the beginning of the academic year 1999/2000 at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. After defending her doctoral dissertation in 2006, she was promoted to the position of assistant professor. She defended her habilitation thesis in 2015, and currently, since 01/10/2017, she has been an academic teacher at the position of a university professor.

The area of ​​research interests of prof. Dr hab. Agnieszka Nosal - Wiercińska includes studies of electrode mechanisms of selected depolarizers, the "cap-pair" effect and adsorption phenomena occurring at the phase boundary: electrode - solution, solid - solution.

She has published 80 articles in scientific journals from the Journal Citation Reports database, included in the current list of MEiN and 25 other articles, including chapters in books and monographs. Her works have been cited 949 times, and the h index is 19. She participated in the implementation of 2 national research grants.

The achievements of scientific publications by prof. Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska was included in the TOP 2% Ranking List with 3558 positions in the discipline "energy" among scientists worldwide, whose publications are most often cited by other authors. Particularly noteworthy is its didactic and organizational activity, as well as involvement in the popularization of science.

Prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska is a co-founder and chairman of the Scientific Council of the Golden Age University in Biecz; vice-chairman of the Electroanalysis Team of the Analytical Chemistry Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences; chairwoman of the Development Committee and Promotion of the Achievements of Young Scientists of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences; Chairman of the Chemical Engineering Section of the Commission of Engineering and Technical Sciences, PAN Division in Lublin; member of Committee on Fundamentals and Applications of Physics and Chemistry in Technology, Agriculture and Medicine, Polish Academy of Sciences Branch in Lublin; Lublin Scientific Society, International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE), the editorial committee of the journals "Journal of Scientific Perspectives" and the Turkish Journal of Analytical Chemistry; Program Council of the Lublin Business Club, Polish Chemical Society and the secretary of the praesidium of the Polish Chemical Society, Lublin Branch, the Polish Society of Calorimetry and Thermal Analysis W. Świętosławski; co-organizer of nationwide conferences, such as: "Physicochemistry of phase boundaries - instrumental methods" or "Innovations in Practice".

A determinant of the didactic and educational activity to date, prof. Agnieszka Nosal-Wiercińska acts as a promoter in three Doctoral dissertations and many bachelor's and master's theses. A significant role in the professor's scientific and didactic development is played by cooperation with numerous research centres both in the country and abroad.

Since 2019, Professor Agnieszka Nosal - Wiercińska has been the Croatian Network faculty coordinator "Colloids and nanomaterials in education and research.”CIII-HR-1108-03-1920, as part of the Central European Exchange Program for University Studies, CEEPUS. For her achievements, she has been repeatedly awarded, among others, with the awards of the UMCS Rector, the Medal of the National Education Commission or the award of the Mayor of the City of Biecz - "Zasłużona dla Miasto" (2018) - for supporting and promoting the city and commune of Biecz as part of the Biecki University of the Golden Age.
