Africa Day is a celebration that commemorates the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on 25th May 1963. On that day, the leaders of 32 independent African states signed the founding act in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The OAU is a precursor to the African Union, which was launched in 2002
