On October 23, Dr. Helena Myeya, lecturer and dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Mkwawa University College of Education of Tanzania (MUCE), which is part of Tanzania's largest public university, Dar-es-Salaam University, paid a visit to the Faculty of Economics. Dr. Helena Myeya specializes in the areas of sustainable development and food security, among others.
The meeting with the authorities of the Faculty of Economics, Dean, Dr. Marcin Lipowski, Prof. UMCS, and the directors of both institutes - Dr. Radoslaw, Prof. UMCS, and Dr. Tomasz Kijek, Prof. UMCS, was an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of developing cooperation, further joint publications and applying for international projects. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mariusz Kicia, Prof. UMCS, who as the dean, with a delegation from the Faculty of Economics in 2022, presented in Iringa to students of the faculty, led by Dean Helena Myeya, the possibilities of studying at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University.
The visit to the Faculty of Economics of the UMCS was about formalities, related to joint scientific activity. The Institute of Economics and Finance of the UMCS, together with MUCE, the Institute of Political Science of the University of Warmia and Mazury and the Institute of Near and Far East of the Jagiellonian University, cooperated in the organization of the 3rd Mkwawa International Conference, held in Tanzania. The collaboration resulted in the publication Change and Adaptations towards Sustainable Development in Tanzania:Economy - Management - Climate Change - Health, which will be published soon. Dr. Helena Myeya, Dr. Edward Mgaya of MUCE and Dr. Konrad Czernichowski of the Department of World Economy and European Integration at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska are the editors of the monograph.
During her visit to Lublin, Dr. Helena Myeya also participated in the inauguration ceremony of the 2024/2025 academic year at UMCS.
