On October 24, the Faculty of Economics once again organized “University Management Accounting Day” . The purpose of the event was to promote the CGMA® (Chartered Global Management Accountant) Qualification Program and encourage students to participate in the program. Since the 2023/2024 academic year, the Finance and Accounting study program at the Faculty of Economics has been accredited by global institutes that bring together management accounting professionals - The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA®) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA®). Thanks to the accreditation, the Faculty of Economics and UMCS are among the prestigious group of ten Polish universities and faculties as the only ones in Lublin and the region.
The accreditation and compliance of the learning outcomes with global standards, allows students graduating from both levels of Finance and Accounting studies at the Faculty of Economics to be exempt from most of the examinations conducted by AICPA® & CIMA® at the two levels of certification. Participation in the CGMA Qualification Program is additionally subsidized by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics. Students from the first and second levels of the Finance and Accounting program were invited to Friday's meeting. The meeting was also broadcast and recorded for students who could not attend directly that day.
During the meeting, representatives of institutions and companies shared comments on the benefits of obtaining the qualifications offered by the AICPA & CIMA®. The meeting was opened by Dr. Marcin Lipowski, Prof. UMCS, Dean of the Faculty of Economics. The CGMA® qualification program, its functioning, recruitment rules and benefits of participation were presented by Paweł Rozen, Lead Manager, University Partnerships, Europe from AICPA & CIMA® . The experience of a graduate of the Faculty of Economics of the UMCS in preparing for the exams was shared by Dominik Drozd - currently a senior controller at Sii sp. z o.o. . In turn, Dr. Mariusz Sagan, director of the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Lublin City Hall, emphasized why it is important for students to obtain professional qualifications from the perspective of the development of Lublin and the Lublin 2030 Strategy. Its implementation attracts more entities operating in the modern business services sector and international companies to Lublin, for which possession of globally recognized certificates is seen as an additional asset in the candidate selection process. An example of such an entity is Vistra Corporate Services, which already employs 160 people at its Lublin branch. Opportunities for career paths, promotions and personal development from the perspective of a multinational corporation and employer were presented by Grzegorz Witek, accounting manager at Vistra .
Recruitment for the program will last until November 30. More detailed information about the program itself can be found on the dedicated website of the Faculty of Economics ( CGMA qualification offered by CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) - Accreditation and certified subjects - For students - Economics - Faculties - UMCS homepage ) and the CIMA website (CIMA Poland | CIMA Universities ).
