NAWA Chair - Prof. Georgiy Kasianov at UMCS

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced the results of the first edition of the NAWA Chair Program within which five scientists with internationally renown achievements will come to stay at Polish universities. We are happy to inform that UMCS is among five Polish universities, along University of Warsaw, the Jagiellonian University, the Adam Mickiewicz University, the University of Wrocław, which were awarded a NAWA Chair. Prof. Georgiy Kasianov (Ukraine) will start his 3 year appointment at the UMCS Institute of Political Science and Administration in September 2021.

Professor  Georgiy Kasianov, affiliated with the Institute of History and Politics of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, has an outstanding academic record, among other areas  including  research and writing on the historical politics. He is an author and co-author of 15 books and numerous articles in prestigious magazines. He was a visiting professors and scholar at various universities in the United States ( including Harvard and North Carolina U), Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Lithuania, and Finland. He participated in over a dozen international research projects.

When at UMCS Prof. Georgiy Kasianov will be conducting a research project "Seeking the Past: Politics of Memory in the United Europe and Its Surroundings (Actors, Actions, Results / Late 1980s–2020)" focusing on the analysis of history politics in modern Europe after 1989. 

He is also  expected  to make a significant contribution to the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration international research teams, initiating further grant applications and increasing internationalization of research.
