Meeting with the recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science

July 7 this year a meeting of the UMCS Rector, prof. Radosław Dobrowolski and Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation prof. Wiesław Gruszecki with dr. Damian Nieckarz, who was the only one from the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin to receive a scholarship from the Minister of Education and Science for outstanding young scientists.

The scholarships were awarded to young scientists who conduct innovative scientific research of high quality and possess impressive scientific achievements of high prestige and international overtone. This benefit is granted to persons who have the status of a young scientist, i.e. they are doctoral students or academic teachers and do not have a doctoral degree or have a doctoral degree which has not been obtained for 7 years, and are employed in the entities referred to in art. 7 sec. 1 of the Act - Law on Higher Education and Science.

UMCS laureate - Dr Damian Nieckarz defended his doctoral thesis with distinction in 2016. "Theoretical studies of the self-organization of molecules in organometallic adsorbed layers". Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Theoretical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University.
