Malwina Kopron visited UMCS

On 9th August of this year, the press conference was held with the bronze medalist of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in a hammer throw - Malwina Kopron. The athlete was accompanied by a trainer and her beloved grandfather - Witold Kopron. The competitor represents the AZS UMCS Lublin University Club and studies internal security at the Faculty of Law and Administration of UMCS.

The event was attended by representatives of the UMCS rector's authorities: Rector of the University, prof. Radosław Dobrowolski and Vice-Rector for General Affairs prof. Arkadiusz Bereza, Marshal of the Lublin Province Jarosław Stawiarski, Deputy Mayor of the City of Lublin Beata Stepaniuk-Kuśmierzak, President of the Lublin Regional Athletics Association Urszula Jaros and Rector of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in years 2012-2020 prof. Stanisław Michałowski. The meeting took place in a symbolic place - at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska square monument, and was also attended by members of the academic community of our University.

Malwina Kopron admitted that the celebration begins only after she arrives in Poland. The Olympian pointed out that: I would not be here if the City had not invested in me, if the Club had not been interested in me if the Lublin Province had not supported me. I emphasized in many interviews that this is, of course, an individual sport, but many people were behind this success, for example, my beloved coach - grandpa. I would not be here if it were not for you - you invested in my development a few years ago. I am pleased to be a UMCS student, I am continuing my studies here, and currently, I am studying for a Master's degree. You can also combine sport with science, and I encourage everyone to do so.

The competitor also thanked the fans for their great support and keeping their fingers crossed during her Olympic performances—Rector of UMCS prof. Radosław Dobrowolski emphasized: I am happy with this spectacular success of our student both as the rector and as a sports fan. The individual success of Malwina Kopron and Małgorzata Hołub-Kowalik also translates into the success of the university's policy, which focuses on academic sports.

After the official part, fans and academic community members could take a commemorative photo with the medalist and get an autograph.

The entire meeting can be viewed on the UMCS fan page.
