MARY CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY IN LUBLIN
announces a competition for the position of assistant professor in the group of research and teaching staff in the Department of Research on the Literary Institute in Paris at the Institute of Social Communication and Media Sciences at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism of UMCS
The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions specified in the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and in the Statute of UMCS of 29 May 2019, as amended.
I. COMPETITION QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:
- having a doctoral degree in the field of humanities;
- publication record in the following research areas: press history, emigration journalism, emigration media
and published in the so-called second circulation;
- publication record in prestigious journals appropriate for the discipline;
- scientific record after obtaining a doctoral degree;
- active participation in scientific life;
- experience in teaching at a university;
- organizational record;
- experience in international cooperation;
- knowledge of English at B2 level;
II. THE COMPETITION APPLICATION SHOULD INCLUDE:
- an application addressed to the Rector of UMCS;
- a copy of the doctoral diploma;
- a personal questionnaire and a curriculum vitae or CV;
- a list of scientific publications;
- a list of scientific, teaching and organizational achievements;
- a declaration of meeting the requirements, in accordance with art. 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - the Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended);
- a declaration by the candidate that UMCS will be the primary place of work;
- a declaration by the candidate that he/she consents to the processing of personal data, in accordance with art. 6 sec. 1 lit. a) Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);
- references, opinion on predispositions for research and teaching.
III. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- employment on the basis of a fixed-term employment contract from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, full-time,
at the primary place of work.

The deadline for submitting documents is - July 17, 2025, 12:00 p.m.
The competition will be decided by - September 5, 2025.
The candidate selected through the competition, before entering into an employment relationship, is obliged to deliver originals or copies or certified true copies of the documents referred to in point II of this announcement to the address indicated in point IV.
The University does not provide housing.
The decision on employment does not result in the establishment of an employment relationship. The decision on employment is made by the Rector.
The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

A person entering the recruitment process is obliged to provide data in the scope resulting from art. 221 of the Labor Code and special provisions regarding employment in a given position. Providing data in a broader scope than that resulting from the regulations is voluntary. The basis for data processing are the provisions of law and consent, in relation to data going beyond the scope resulting from the regulations.
Under Article 7(3) of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data that goes beyond the scope provided for by law, the data subject has the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
In accordance with Articles 15-21 and 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject has the right to access the data, rectify it, delete it or limit its processing and the right to object to the processing, as well as to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, as well as the right to transfer data. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.
The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a potential objection is filed or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and to the extent required by law to secure potential claims.
The recipients of personal data may be entities authorized under the provisions of law and entities that process personal data on behalf of the Administrator, based on a concluded personal data processing agreement.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority - the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).
The data provided by you will not be processed for the purpose of automated decision-making, including profiling.
