RECTOR

OF MARIA CURIE-SKLODOWSKA UNIVERISTY IN LUBLIN

announces a competition for the position of an Assistant Professor in the group of research staffin the Department of Theoretical Physicsat the Institute of Physics, the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science UMCS

 

The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:

-   a doctoral degree in the field of physical sciences obtained in a unit other than the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project (this period may be extended by the time of staying on long-term (over 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits in connection with incapacity for work; additionally, the number of months of leave related to the care and upbringing of children may be added to this period, granted on the terms set out in the Labor Code, and in the case of women - 18 months for each born or adopted child, if this way of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more beneficial);

-   outstanding scientific achievements and experience in acquiring and managing or implementing research projects;

-   good command of general relativity theory, numerical methods, symbolic algebra;

-   very good command of/ fluency in the English language;

-   the ability to present research results

-   high motivation to conduct scientific research, communication skills and the ability to work in a team.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

-   employment under a research grant on the basis of a temporary full-time contract from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025, in the main place of work for a period of not less than 6 months;

-   during the period of receiving remuneration under the employment, no other remuneration may be collected under an employment contract with any employer (also applies to an employer with its registered office outside the territory of the Republic of Poland);

-   during the period of employment at UMCS as part of a research project, no other remuneration may be collected from the funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under competitions of the National Science Center.

 

The deadline for submitting documents is October 10, 2023 to 3pm

The competition will be settled no later than October 16, 2023

 

The candidate selected in the recruitment procedure, before entering into employment relationship, is obliged to provide originals or true certified copies of the documents referred to in point II of this announcement, which must be sent to the address indicated in point IV.

 

The university does not provide accommodation.

The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship.

The decision on employment is made by the Rector.

The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.

 

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin with its registered seat in Lublin at Plac im. Marii Curie - Skłodowskiej 5, 20-031 Lublin (hereinafter: UMCS) informs that personal data of candidates for employment shall be processed for recruitment purposes only.

Candidates are required to provide data in the scope resulting from Article 22 of the Labour Code and specific provisions concerning employment in a given position. Providing data in a broader scope than required by the provisions is voluntary. The basis for data processing is the law and consent, in relation to data exceeding the area resulting from the provisions.

In accordance with Article 7 paragraph 3 of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data exceeding the scope provided for by law, the data subject has the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.

Required documents

APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:


-   an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;


-   a copy of the doctoral diploma or a resolution on conferring a doctoral degree, or another document confirming obtaining a doctoral degree


-   a personal questionnaire and CV;


-   a list of scientific publications;


-   a list of scientific and organizational achievements;


-   a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be a primary workplace;


-   three letters of recommendation from scientists or opinions of persons holding the academic title of professor or the academic degree of doctor habilitated about the candidate's scientific achievements;


-   a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742);


- a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);
