RECTOR
OF MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERISTY IN LUBLIN
announces a competition for the position of an Assistant Professor in the group of research staff
in the Department of Intelligent Systems, at the Institute of Computer Science, at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science UMCS
The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:
- a doctoral degree in computer science, mathematics or related sciences obtained in an institution other than Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project (this period may be extended by the duration of stay in this period for long-term (over 90 days) documented sickness benefits or rehabilitation benefits in connection with incapacity for work; in addition to this period, you can add the number of months on leaves related to the care and upbringing of children granted on the terms specified in the Labour Code, and in the case of women - 18 months for each born or adopted child, if this way of indicating breaks in a scientific career is more favourable);
- outstanding scientific achievements and experience in acquiring and managing or implementing research projects;
- documented scientific achievements in the field of theoretical computer science, algebra or discrete mathematics confirmed by publications in international journals.
- command of the English language;
- motivation to conduct scientific research and the ability to work in a team.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- full-time employment under an employment contract for a limited period from November 1, 2023 to October 31, 2024, in the primary workplace under a research grant (with the possibility of extending employment for a maximum of 12 months);
- during the period of remuneration under the established employment, you cannot receive any other remuneration on the basis of an employment contract with any employer (also applies to an employer based outside the territory of the Republic of Poland);
- during the period of employment at UMCS as part of a research project, you cannot receive any other remuneration from the funds allocated as direct costs from research projects financed under the competitions of the National Science Centre.
The deadline for submitting documents is October 18, 2023 until 3 p.m.
The competition will be settled no later than October 23, 2023.
Before the employment, the candidate selected in a competition is obliged to deliver the originals or copies or copies of the documents referred to in point II of this announcement certified to be true to the original to the address indicated in point IV.
The university does not provide housing.
The settlement of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship.
The final decision on employment is made by the Rector.
The University reserves the right to close the competition without a decision.
Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin with its registered seat in Lublin at Plac im. Marii Curie - Skłodowskiej 5, 20-031 Lublin (hereinafter: UMCS) informs that personal data of candidates for employment shall be processed for recruitment purposes only.
Candidates are required to provide data in the scope resulting from Article 22 of the Labour Code and specific provisions concerning employment in a given position. Providing data in a broader scope than required by the provisions is voluntary. The basis for data processing is the law and consent, in relation to data exceeding the area resulting from the provisions.
In accordance with Article 7 paragraph 3 of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data exceeding the scope provided for by law, the data subject has the right to withdraw their consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
In accordance with Articles 15 to 21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject has the right to access, rectify, delete or limit processing, and the right to object to the processing, as well as to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, as well as the right to transfer data. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.
The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.

- an application requesting employment addressed to the Rector of UMCS;
- a copy of a doctoral degree or a resolution on awarding a doctoral degree or another document confirming obtaining the academic degree of doctor;
- a personal questionnaire and CV containing among others a list of scientific publications as well as teaching and organizational achievements;
- a candidate's declaration that UMCS will be their primary workplace;
- contact information of an experienced researcher that may serve as a reference for the candidate or an opinion of a person holding the academic title of professor or the academic degree of a habilitated doctor about the candidate's scientific achievements;
- a declaration of compliance with the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742);
- a candidate's declaration that they agree to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6 Paragraph 1 Letter a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
