About the exhibition

"Kwan Khao" is a Thai rice ritual whose name means "rice mascot". Kwan Khao is usually performed before the appearance of the rice grains. This is an old traditional ritual that farmers who own rice fields do each time the plants start to produce rice from the ears of grain. It is widely believed among farmers that celebrating this special ceremony will make cultivation easy and result in a bountiful harvest. The farmers are praying, and I am asking the mother of rice, Mae Phosop, for good and healthy products. It is also an expression of gratitude to Mae Phosop, the Goddess of Rice, who helped people live to this day. The ritual is also a great way to build good morale for farmers and their families by encouraging them to work hard.
