Invitation to exhibition "Kwan Khao" by Saitip Majewska

We would like to invite you to the exhibition of works by Saitip Majewska in our Art Gallery Zana 11!

Saitip Majewska

Born in 1985, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand. In 2013, She moved to Poland and currently She lives In Kraków. In 2009, she graduated from the department of sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, in Thailand. In 2020 Saitip completed master degree in graphics at the Academy of Fine arts in Kraków, Poland. Her artwork is related to life, anatomy, mothers, women, human and nature such as flowers, plants, or animals by using them as symbols and in the way of the symbiosis between human and animals lives. Inspiration from these fields is used to create works of art in various forms, such as ceramics, drawing, paintings, graphics, sculptures and installation art.

 Concept of the exhibition

 “Kwan Khao” is Thai rice ritual which means the mascot of rice. Kwan Khao is usually performed before rice grains begin to emerge. It is the old traditional ritual that farmers who have rice fields will do every time when plants start giving the ear of rice. There is a popular belief among farmers community, that performing this particular ceremony will help achieve easy cultivation and will bring generous harvest. They will ask and pray to the mother of rice Mae Phosop, for having good and healthy products. Also it show gratitude to the Mae Phosop, The Goddess of Rice that helped humans live to this day. It is also a great way to create good morale for farmers and their families, to encourage them for hard labor.
